Mindfulness Based Approaches (MBAs) teach you how to develop mindfulness through the practice of meditation. By developing mindfulness, you can learn how to break the link between negative thinking and the negative moods that often result.

Medical research in recent years has shown that MBAs can have a positive impact on physical and mental health. MBAs can be used in many ways, but can be particularly effective in preventing relapse into depression and addiction, and in managing stress and anxiety.

I employ two different MBAs in both individual and group based counseling: Mindfulness–Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) for depression relapse prevention and Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR).
